This, honestly, for me, I'm surprised by this, by how positively I reacted to this, but this is an unqualified recommendation for me.

Even though this is an academic, a Sondra Baker academic, it did not feel overly academic to me.

I thought even when they get into hermeneutical principles, it's not...

difficult to understand it's not overly uh scholarly language um the the film connection is very relatable to so many people uh i honestly when i was thinking about like i i just don't have any qualifications or reservations about who i would encourage to read this i just think it's very very helpful and the fact that they turn it back so much to like your own movie in your head as a reader it really helps you reflect on your own reading and interpretive practices as an individual

and that's just very very helpful to me in addition all the principles that they they pull out about harmonization about filling in gaps and adding characterization kind of there's a great there's a great discussion of the complexity of character development that happens and even how that's in the gospels like like is jesus himself portrayed as a complex or a simple character

Fascinating questions that I think are really important for anyone who wants to be a more informed and more sensitive and cautious and careful reader of the Gospels or Scripture more broadly.

And this book, it's almost like a sneak attack.

It's like, oh, I think I'm going to be reading a book that's going to educate me on the broad array of Jesus films that are out there.

And then you end up walking away with a book that's really thoughtful and challenging and provocative and...

very educational on interpretation.

Just good reading, you know?

I loved that.

I was so pleasantly surprised by it, which is why this for me is a pretty easy, unqualified recommendation.
