If he had been from Athens, Georgia and not from Athens, Ohio, he would have refused to play for the Bengals.
So that's always kind of been there.
And they've taken care of him financially.
But beyond that, what are they really doing to make the team better?
What are they really doing to contend year in and year out?
What are they doing to remove the snow from the stadium seats?
It's all part of this same idea that they don't want to spend money.
They don't want to do anything above and beyond how they ordinarily do business.
And I can't help but think at some level, and I saw what he said today, I can't help but think he's at least wondering, how would my life be if I played for a team that had the money, was willing to spend it, was going to put all the right players around me, and let's go pursue a championship?
Well, I mean, all bullshit aside, he really would have not played for the Bengals if he wasn't an Ohio kid.
But I think he felt responsible to come back to Ohio.
It all made sense.
