That's crazy.
No.
All right? Okay. You know? I have to say, Bless, anytime that's said on content for kind of funny, it always goes bad.
Let us do our thing.
Yeah, you could. It says you can see a Rodius and then a letter that mostly looks like a B. Maybe a Y. Okay, here's what happened.
Fucking dumbass. Why did you mention the haze, huh?
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes, we squashed the beef.
What just happened?
I just wanted to give you both a heads up, alright? Nick's over there 405 and in front of the printer asking why there's so much Sharpie on it. So it's one of those days. Oh no.
Wait, asking why there's so much Sharpie on it?
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
Today's stories include Switch 2 pre-orders were a nightmare, Ghost of Yotei has a release date, and our Until Dawn movie review. We'll have all this and more because this is Kinda Funny Games Daily. What is up, everybody, and welcome back to Kinda Funny Games Daily for April 24th, 2025. I'm Roger McCourty, and today I'm joined by PAX East's 2025's keynote speaker, Greg Miller. Hello, Roger.
So I was able to do that twice in a row.
Yeah, so I was just able to, like, I figured it out, and I was like, okay, cool, I'm in the Matrix.
Hey, come on. You know me. Come on. Put me at the front of the line. Yeah, so then we had that going. We were also on Walmart. You know me. You know me. Come on, please. I love Target. We got through Walmart. Lanza got hers through Walmart. And then I also went through Walmart, and I got another one there.
So, yeah, I got one through Walmart, two through Target, and then another one through Walmart.
Yeah, so yesterday I was talking to Mike and Mike was like, man, after this all shits the bed, everybody's going to line up at the Daily City GameStop. Everyone's going to be ready to go. And I'm like, Mike, I don't think that's the time anymore.
I don't think we're in this era where people are going to go outside their house and wait in a line just because you can just refresh on a Discord and figure out the best way to do it. People that would be going into that line would be the people that are on that Discord. So Mike actually did end up getting one online and then also went to a GameStop outside and camped out.
So Mike, what did I say yesterday that you gave me shit about?
He just wanted to come in. But yeah, shout out to Mike for doing that because that is fun. I've always yearned for the days that you've told me about and I've seen online of like people would show up and be excited about this console.
I remember being so sad at the PS4 launch.
because i i was there at the midnight release uh at a best buy and i was like man i was such a deep podcast beyond fan back in the day and i was like there has to be like a beyond person there has to be people that are like deep in this and everybody in the line just like i'm sorry for madden i'm excited like they're just like the most normal people in the world that are not into any of this they just want the ps4 they didn't know about kelly they did not know about kelly they didn't know about uh i doubt it they didn't know about it
I think that's dead. People are going to be there.
This is the biggest thing in the world.
So I guess I want to ask that question, right, for you, Greg.
A man of the people. Okay, sure. You're old. You're a man of the people. And you also, you like that. You like the idea of being there and giving out the donuts and hanging out. But you also watch all your movies at home. You would like the idea of movie theaters to go away so you can just watch everything at home. So like, yeah.
Yes, exactly. I don't need movie theaters to die-die. Yeah, but the idea being that you like your comfort.
but you also like the idea of being with the people and hanging out. So where's the middle ground? Do you think this is the right way to go about this?
this so this isn't like a this is an unheard of thing like this exists how do we still not have a better system of getting online and getting in line and not everything melts down to where i don't know your credit card information i'm 404 i'm crashing i'm doing this yeah it's a tough one especially with the scalpers right everyone coming in coming in at the same time and all trying to vie for the same product product i don't yeah i i don't think that there is to me at least for this like i expected the worst i expected not i did not expect the 905 i expected the
I have some super chats here.
Yeah, no, I was actually thinking about that. I was like, what if I can just get some hot dogs and just wait at a Costco really quick? God, that'd be amazing. Jordan Vickers super chats and says, I waited three hours in GameStop, was second in line, and got my pre-orders. That's exciting. That's exciting. Goldfishboyleet says, Says, my brother and I both got Mario Kart World Bundle. Hell yes.
Our Flow says, got two online at Walmart, and I went to GameStop this morning and did it in person just in case Walmart falls through. If not, it goes to a friend. I love this. I love that everyone's just giving it to friends, and we're hanging out, and we're helping this out. You know, don't scalp this shit. Don't scalp this. Give it to your friends.
Yeah, hell yeah. Pugles says, what feels better, Greg, securing your Switch or securing the dub to the season of Game Showdown?
Yeah.
Don't worry about it.
You got one.
He's already given them away.
I like the idea of you saying that we just get all of our switches and we just show it to Tim. We're just like, fuck you, Tim. But Tim finally got them. Let us continue a little bit and talk more about... Oh, I want to bring up Daniel Ahmad on Twitter. This is horrible news. Yeah, which brings up the idea of talking about the servers, talking about everything melting down.
He says, all the Switch 2 bundles come with a download code. Mario Kart World is 24 gigabytes. Most games come on a game key card and require a download. The Switch 2 launches globally on the same day. I am not a religious man, but I ask you all to pray for the eShop servers on June 4th. fifth. That to me was the scariest shit in the world. I was like, oh, I didn't think about that side of it.
Yeah, and when is all this stuff going to come, right? Are we actually going to get it on that day? Is it going to be delayed? Exactly.
I'm not a best boy.
And then one more thing from Wario 64, talking about pre-orders and all this stuff. My Nintendo Store US update on release date delivery. Delivery by June 5th is not guaranteed. Invite email may arrive after the Switch 2 launches. So I saw some people in the comments being like, hey, this is actually not a new update. It's just kind of like whoever's in the line.
You will get a link to buy it eventually. It just might happen afterwards. It wasn't ever guaranteed guaranteed. But either way, that does suck because I feel like that should be the way that you pre-order all this stuff. I feel like it all should be through Nintendo. They have a system where we can... figure out the scalpers.
We can go straight to the people that actually want this console and we'll actually play it. So the way that this is rolling out is kind of disappointing because it seems like the lesser way to do it. It does not seem like the instant way to actually play this because these are the people that actually have NSO. They're actually playing the stuff, right? I don't know.
Thanks for doing the work for me. I was so mad at Best Buy because they started kicking people from the fucking queue. That was the most frustrating thing. I was there 920 on the dots, and then it lands over my shoulder watching, and then it refreshes. I'm like, oh, oh, oh! And then they just kicked me out, and they did that for a bunch of people. So that fucking sucks, Best Buy.
Best Buy is on my shit list, but not Target because I got two of those from there.
So what's your plan for this? Are we fucked?
I love that. So you're getting one Switch, though. Switch 2.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Well, I'm sure we'll talk more about that and a lot of other stuff on the kind of funny docket. But before we do that, I'll tell you a little bit about our sponsors.
Hi, everybody. Greg Miller got so mad at me that I got three switches that he left the show. It's just going to be a one-man show today talking about story number two. Ghost of Yotei gets a release date. Leave!
Ghost of Yote gets a release date. This is from Andrew Goldfarb at PlayStation. The dark night of news. I love it. Of course, we're going to have a games cast after this talking all about our thoughts and hopes and also a trailer reaction for Ghost of Yote. Very excited about that. The blog post reads, we are so excited to announce that Ghost of Yote comes to PlayStation 5 on October 2nd, 2025.
It's been nearly five years since we shipped Ghost of Tsushima, and in that time, we've been hard at work at making Ghost of Yotei something special. While the stories are unrelated, it's important to us to make this a worthy follow-up to Jin's journey. And we can't wait for you to experience Atsu's quest for vengeance later this year.
Today, we can also reveal that pre-orders for Ghost of Yotei begin next week on May 2nd, and you'll be able to choose between multiple different editions, including our amazing Collector's Edition. So, of course, they have the Digital Deluxe Edition and a bunch of things, but I want to show off the Collector's Edition, which has the cool stuff, if we can look at that for a second.
Does it include the game? Let's see. This pack edition includes... It does.
You're getting the game. All of the pre-order bonuses, all in-game items from the Digital Deluxe Edition and a digital copy of the game, as well as replica display edition of Atsu's Ghost Mask. The mask is built to scale with Jin's mask from our Ghost of Tsushima Collector's Edition. If you have both, they look great next to each other on a shelf. And then he has the dimensions of it.
But yeah, that's cool. That's cool. I am...
I like that they have the parody.
And you can never justify the price of it, right? I always look at, I think it was recently, the limited run of Yakuza. Cause there's such little Yakuza and like a dragon merch out there that I'm like, okay, anytime something comes, like I need to get something. And then I just, I look at that price. I'm like, I just can't justify it. You know what I mean?
I don't, I I'm the same thing with you where I have my little areas of like, Oh, I have like a little Yakuza, you know, DVD or whatever. Yakuza zero from Japan. And I have like the magazine that you guys got me, which was awesome. But then I don't, I don't need more things. Cause I honestly, my house is just full of sunny angels and a hello kitty merchandise. Like that is all Lanza.
And it's taken up the house.
Oh, no. Okay. But she, yes, eventually. Eventually?
Yeah, there's been stories about people stealing labubus off of people's persons. So it's a big deal. Can I see a labubu? I don't know what a labubu is. Yeah, let's see a labubu. Let's see a labubu. Oh, when we went to the mall where they sell labubus, they were out of labubus. I'm going to keep on saying labubus. We walked out of the store, out of the- Wouldn't have guessed that. Pop Marts?
Yeah, we walked out of the Pop Marts. And then this guy just accosts us and is like, hey- You guys want some of the boo-boos? I'm selling the boo-boos. I'm like, no, we're good. Please, sir, walk away from it. What a culture, San Francisco.
I don't like the digital deluxe editions. It makes me feel like I'm cheating. I don't like it.
I like looking cool and like you know really quick I started playing Ghost of Shima recently and apparently the code that I had was the digital deluxe edition so they give you a special horse and every time you walk up to the horse it just says the name it says the horse it just says in parentheses digital deluxe edition like next to the horse and I'm just like fuck that horse this is a great one story number if I can what do you think of the release date October 2nd uh
Good. I mean, that seems like the right place to do it. You just got to get it out, right? I feel like if we just keep on kicking the can, eventually something else would fall there.
We're filling up that year.
I saw somebody in the chat say, this is GTA territory. And I just like that. That gives them September on. GTA territory.
Oh my gosh. Happy birthday, Barrett's mom. Story number three. Until Dawn movie review with Joey Noel. Joey and I went to go see Until Dawn at AMC Metreon. You're going to talk more. I'm going to do a little synopsis really quick. This is for the movie. One year after her sister disappeared, Clover didn't realize that was her name.
We gotta figure that out. Culver and her friends head to the remote valley where she vanished to search for answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they soon encounter a masked killer who murders them one by one. However, when they mysteriously wake up at the beginning of the same night, they are forced to relive the terror over and over again.
This movie is currently sitting at a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 53% on Metacritic. Woof. Woof.
Yes, of a potential Until Dawn game.
That's what it feels like.
Just dead silent and just like a line of dialogue would come out that was not meant to be funny, I don't think.
No. Yeah. The way that... I liked the premise of it. Again, the idea of them dying and then coming back to life. But I also think that this was very much an excuse for David S. Sandberg, the director of this movie, to then just do a bunch of different horror genres that he wanted to tackle in this one movie. It feels very disjointed.
I think that's the best way to describe it because of that premise. It's a fun premise. It's a funny idea and it keeps the movie going. And I don't know how long the movie was, but it felt pretty short.
I was going by. I was having a good enough time by the ending of it where I was not like checking my watch or anything. But the weird thing about it is the best thing about the movie is the worst thing because every night they're dying and there's a new monster essentially, right? But then eventually that new monster, they have to stop doing that
premise and then they're like no here's actually the real monster of the movie and they didn't have enough time to set that up because any good horror movie is one that takes its time and builds and builds and builds and then finally has the explosion at the ending right where this movie doesn't really do that it just kind of starts stops starts it feels like a
I will say the cynical aspect of it, right? Where it is kind of like an until dawn in name only. I mean, there's connections, right? They do have connections in the movie, but there are,
two yes uh but i will say i am never going to turn my nose up at a director taking millions of dollars from a massive studio to do a bunch of really cool practical effects and that's what this is like there's a lot of good practical effects and if you guys should watch uh pony smasher is his youtube channel but the director david f sandberg started off as a youtuber oh
doing like short films he did lights out yeah and then uh annabelle and um the shazam movies but he was a youtuber first and foremost and he did a video before this movie came out where he's like i was just super fucking excited to do practical effects and you see really you feel you feel the excitement in that and i will again this is not a bad movie i would say this is a six out of ten like that's that's where i'm at two out of five on letterbox okay so four yeah
damn yeah i i i thought it was totally like so much of my criticism is that it's just not until dawn sure and i think if it had a different name i would have had more fun with it it was funny playing watching this with leanza who only watched until dawn and never watches slasher movies which is like man this movie is so until dawn i'm like you're just talking about any generic slasher you know what i mean like so it's a generic slasher film you like it
I thought it was, this is a movie that I would watch when I was 16 with a group, my group of my friends would laugh at the entire time. It's totally a serviceable, like put on the background, have a decent enough time. It's not egregious or bad.
Yeah, well, maybe. And maybe we'll get another Until Dawn game. Then they'll make an Until Dawn movie too.
Maybe we'll just do another game instead. Well, thank you so much, Joey.
That's awesome.
Round of applause. Joey Noel, everybody.
That's supposed to be private. Story number four. Unannounced Blade Runner game canceled at Super Massive Games. Talking about Until Dawn. This is from Mike Straw at Insider Gaming. An unannounced Blade Runner game that had been in development at Supermassive Games has been canceled.
I'm excited.
Insider Gaming has learned that Blade Runner Time to Live was a character-focused cinematic action-adventure game where you are the only Blade Runner in 2065.
The game would feature a 10 to 12 hour single player story that per documents sent to Insider Gaming under the condition that they not be made public, involved a compelling story blending the philosophical themes of Blade Runner with kinetic action adventure gameplay. That's cool. That's me saying that.
Yeah, I'm excited that you actually just meet a famous person. That's really cool, and you can hang out with him. How many stars does Ben Star have?
The game began pre-production in September 2024 with the core team comprised of those who worked on the quarry. Pre-production was scheduled to end in March 2025 with the end of prototyping by September 2025. The full release was planned for September 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, PC, and the 10th gen Xbox and PlayStation systems. Really quick, what was the game?
A third-person action-adventure game, Blade Runner Time to Live, would see players play as So Leng, a vintage model Nexus 6, inexplicably still alive well beyond your limited lifespan. "'Journey from the teeming undercity of New Zurich, 2065, to the eerie remnants and the forgotten world beyond.
The description from the documents, quote, under orders to retire Rev, the mysterious and ruthless leader of an underground replicant network, you are betrayed and left for dead in a brutally hostile environment.'" And it goes on to say that as far as the reason for the game's cancellation, it was said that Blade Runner's rights owners, Alcon Entertainment, is to blame.
Oh, yeah, he did. Did he win that episode of Game Showdown?
Specific details on what Alcon may have done aren't published to protect the sources of the information. It's understood that the game was canceled late last year. Two Blade Runner games in development, huh?
yeah there's this one or wasn't it yeah yeah yeah and the Annapurna one interesting title interesting yeah when I saw this I was like is this the Annapurna one no it's not this is a separate thing Blade Runner 2033 Labyrinth super massive games just kind of interest me um as a company and like where they're going and the things that they're doing this seems like it is less of a quarry situation maybe I don't know if it if it had combat or if it was more of a you know because it's just this action adventure type deal
Yeah. But they're doing this. They were doing this. They have Directive 8020, which is still in the anthology, the House of... Yeah, they've kind of put that at the bottom of it rather than making it a big part of it, but that's still happening. And they had a success with the quarry. They did the casting of Frank Stone, which was the Dead by Daylight universe game.
And then now they're doing Little Nightmares 3. Yeah. which is fucking bizarre. So the fact that they were also making a Blade Runner game is just... They're interesting, and I like them a lot, and I like what they do, and they clearly have found this rhythm of making things that are cool that people like in this horror genre, but it's kind of interesting that they were making a Blade Runner game.
That's true.
Well, Greg, we'll talk more about your stars, I'm sure, later on in the show. But remember, this is Kind of Funny Games Daily, where each and every weekday we run you through the nerdy news you need to know about live on YouTube, Twitch, and podcast services around the globe.
Yeah. Hell yeah. But if the Blade Runner game came out, that would have been huge. Would have been huge news. But I'm tired of everything. Fuck. It's not as easy as you make it look. Because then I look at the thing and I'm like, what am I saying? And it's about something, whatever. If I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go?
We News time, everybody. It's from Noble. Bethesda. Bethesda. Namcom. Bethesda gave the entire Sky Bolivian modding team game keys for the Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion remaster. That's how you fucking do it, y'all.
Next week, they shut it down.
This is the fine print. LG Smart TVs are now Xboxes. Yeah, we'll see. We'll see. And is it even – is there a sizable amount of changes here that we can get excited about or people are just going to be like, I already bought the game. I mean, I bet –
How are you? I'm doing great. How are you doing, Greg?
It is confirmed that you can use the GameCube controller with other Switch 2 games directly from Nintendo through Nintendo Life. The Nintendo GameCube controller is designed for use with the Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Classic collection of games, and is an optional way to play those games.
Since it doesn't have all the buttons and features found in other controllers that can be used with the Switch 2 system, there may be some issues when playing with other games." The Nintendo GameCube controller can only be used on Switch 2 and is not compatible with Nintendo Switch. Cozy mystery adventure detective Dotson out on PC console version coming later this year.

yeah, Greg. Fuck yeah. Went live on Target, Best Buy, Walmart. I think that's it. You nailed it. Yeah. And then we were just all together trying to get this thing. Greg, did you get any?
Yeah, you don't want to be Team Purple, though.
I had a weird one with target where it would just not do my address. Right. So I had to hand type it, but it wouldn't even like the autofill.
Yes, right as it happened. So what I think happened is that everybody, she was, like, one of the first people there, so then I gave her a time, and then everybody else was just...
Which is kind of fucked up that they said it's going to open up at 9. And then they're just like, oh, 9.20 actually.
How bad must it suck to be Andy? You know what I mean? Only one star and it's mine.
So, Greg, I didn't get one. I didn't get two. I got three. I mean, come on, everybody.
uh and i'm gonna resell all the no i'm kidding joey gets one uh bless gets one uh i get one and lianza got one so i guess the the picorny household got four of them right there so yeah no i was locked the fuck in and this was my moment to shine uh so i was gaming the system and i figured it out by the ending of it a specific way to get uh target to work so i had the target app going on that too
Yeah, the Target app for me was like, it was better in ways and was worse in ways than the browser experience, right? Because I could get it in my cart, but I couldn't actually, like I would go to do ad payment and it would just load and it would die and I couldn't go through. So what I would do, I would put it into my cart through the app, then go to the computer and then check out.
Hmm.
Also ja, ich bin sehr begeistert darüber.
What the fuck is happening right now? This is fucking sick. Holy shit.
That seems like a team-up moment. Our destiny awaits.
I don't know, man. I'm getting rouge vibes. Yeah, well, that's the thing.
I'm getting rouge vibes.
That's the other thing I wanted to look up, is what is she wearing in this trailer? Because she popped up. And I don't think she's wearing purple. No, you're right. It's more of a pink.
I mean, that's also meaningful.
Ja. Weißt du, was ich meine? Oh, es heißt The Child Garden!
I mean, you gotta do it, man. Yeah. I mean, here's the other thing, right? You do all that.
Listen, I still haven't played through Sonic Adventures 1 and 2.
Sonic Adventure 2 is like, or Sonic 2 is better than 1, for sure.
It's the fact that we're in 2024 and we're still referencing Sonic 06 as Sega.
Good for you, Sega. Because if I was John Sega over there.
You gotta shoot that kid. Gotta shoot the kid.
You're gonna see me standing up giving a standing ovation. Like, fuck yeah. Take that, Marielle. We did it. We did it. Masterpiece.
