You know, you can't simply declare victory and leave when you've taken this kind of a decisive action and announced that the goal is regime change.
The reason past presidents haven't taken this step despite 47 years of great tension and the Islamic Republic of Iran being a force for evil in the world, let's be clear, is because
of the cascading effects of this kind of a kinetic action, right?
You don't get to just declare victory and go home because you've unleashed the furies.
And you remember my last book on George Washington, Washington's fight for peace.
The whole point about the fight for peace is you don't really win a war unless you win the peace, which is why you need plans for stabilization.
You need, you know, this is the problem in the Iraq war.
You know, the planning was politicized.
People said, we're going to enter and be greeted as liberators, and that'll be the end of it.
But of course it wasn't, and it never is.
You have to have a plan to win the peace, otherwise you will not win the war.
And what Trump just unleashed, you can't, you know, exit on your own.
He's already seen that, you know, the uprising he apparently hoped for hasn't occurred.
And the furies that have been reached regionally are going to have vast repercussions.
They could have repercussions here domestically beyond the price of oil.
I mean, one of the things I'm very concerned about, and you know, I worked in New York City government during 9-11, is that the counterterror preparedness of the United States has been undercut by cacistocracy appointees and FBI agents taken off
counterterrorism and put on immigration enforcement with ICE.
So we got to be very careful about what's happening and understand that this will not and cannot end at a time and place of our choosing.
It's going to require sustained commitment and stabilization regionally.
And there are unfortunately a lot of moves because something's been unleashed without any basic understanding of history or adequate strategy.
