There's a lot of good talent that was blocked on rosters or um acquired at the deadline that teams have called up and have helped teams like the Orioles hang around even though they sold at the deadline.

So I think what it says is that

There are teams that can sort of straddle that line of

You know, we're not necessarily giving up on twenty twenty six, but we have to be realistic about our chances and make the twenty twenty seven club and beyond better.

Yeah, I mean the Tigers just sold those two guys at the deadline.

They just got swept by the White Sox when Scuble pitched well for the Dodgers when he would have pitched against the White Sox this weekend.

Maize pitched well for the Padres when he would have pitched against the White Sox this weekend.

You know, you never know, of course, what would have happened if they were actually still on the Tigers.

The Tigers are still only a game out of a playoff spot.

They have the second best run differential in the American league.

There's still a lot to like there with young guys like Troy Melton, Jackson Job, Peter Montero back in the rotation full time.

They're a good example of a team that said

You know, look, we think that we can make the playoffs this year, but we also need to think about, A, what are our chances of re signing Scuba and Maize?

Can we capitalize on them right now and also still sort of thread that needle and contend for 2026?

But also look.

A lot better for twenty twenty seven with guys like Zaire Hope and River Ryan and Cash Mayfield in the fold um twenty twenty-seven and beyond.

I still like the Tigers chances.

I I do like looking at things like run differential to to see how good a team is.
