And we're probably, you know, 20, 25 percent of the way done with trades that will happen today.
because the trade deadline has never been this late before so we're in uncharted territory what is today are you on like full roster resource duty outside of these 15 minutes you're you're part of the team moving guys around uh yeah so so jason martinez is moving guys around on like the actual pages and then i'm handling all the payroll stuff and then lineup tracker like override so you can see the old team the players run for their new team and the new team players around for their old team and the
Yeah, a lot of balls in the air today.
The next, what, five-plus hours are going to be wild, but I'm looking forward to it as always, and I'm just going to be a big exhale when it's all over.
Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that the Jays are obviously not trying to be out of contention in 2027 by any means.
And on balance with what they've done so far, there's more yet to be done.
They are roughly the same right now with Gosman gone and Soriano in, more or less.
So it is interesting to see this sort of line straddling of
being sort of prudent about where things are in 2026 and their likelihood of making the playoffs this year, while also at the same time realizing like, hey, we have all these guys under contract for next year.
It's not like we're going to take a step back anytime soon from contending, ergo get the two plus years of Jose Soriano to be somewhere in the middle towards the top of the rotation behind Don't Cease.
Yeah, I mean, there's so many teams in any given year that you're just going to feel like have bright futures, the window is wide open, there's no end in sight to the prospects that a team will have, and then weird things happen.
Gunnar Henderson hurts his shoulder and it saps his power last year, and that has carried over into this year.
The pitching guys like Grayson Rodriguez, who they traded for Taylor Ward, never took that step forward into full health and top-end performance, really.
So, you know, this is sort of a...
20th ish percentile outcome for their season where they're not out of contention, but they're certainly don't feel like they're in it strong enough to not capitalize on guys like Ward and presumably Richmond that other teams are interested in.
And, you know, teams are so model focused right now.
And so, you know, can we win this trade mathematically relative to our playoff odds and whatever our chances are making the playoffs next year, et cetera, et cetera.
