And teams don't make trades just for the sake of it, but it's pretty clear that the Orioles are seeing a good opportunity to extract at least some value from some of these guys before they just walk in free agency for nothing.
I think on balance with Castillo out the door and they can go to a, you know, traditional now five-man rotation and eight-man bullpen instead of sort of always playing a man short in the bullpen to accommodate their six starters and having Ward's, you know, right-handed bat that may or may not be right-handed thump anymore in the lineup certainly makes them better.

Two, according to our farm system rankings at Fangraphs, they have the second least valuable farm system, so I don't think they have the pieces to pull off a trade for...
a Reed Detmers, for example, who would really help stabilize that rotation.
They might sort of even barely have the pieces for a Kyle Stowers type who they've supposedly been rumored to be talking to the Marlins about.
So for them, it's a matter of, you know, how much can they do with the relative little that they have in
their sort of prospect bin from which to trade and how much better of a team does that make them in 2026 and beyond with all these guys that they have locked in, Altuve, et cetera, getting a year older and, you know, theoretically worse as they continue to age and, you know, at what cost do they want to push that 2026 World Series or playoff odds gap?
yeah i mean arise certainly lengthens the lineup but sort of similar to you know what the astros can do like at what cost are you doing that they traded uh i believe our 67th overall prospect um to the giants for a rental and arise and they are getting a reliever and caleb killian also to be fair um
But then the cascading effects on their defense of you have to really, really buy into the improvements that arise made under the tutelage of Ron Washington this year and that they're sticky enough if you are then playing Boehm out of position at first, Stott out of position at third, Harper out of position in right field.
It has been a long time since he has played the outfield.
