As a fan, he was definitely the most gifted.

But I remember when I was there, the first charity game I got to play with at Anfield, and just playing with the lads, we were knocking the ball to each other, and Jan Mulby's knocking the ball to me, and I'm hitting it to Ian Rush, and I'm hitting it to Jamie Redknapp, and I'm hitting the ball to Ronnie Whelan.

You know, like when you think of Liverpool footballers, no one goes, oh, Ronnie Williams was the most skilful or whatever.

Just hitting the ball to him and then it was like, I don't know, it's like his foot wasn't like a foot.

He just stroked it and then he started taking the mickey and hitting the ball.

Somehow he could pass the ball to me along the floor so it would bounce in front of me and hit my knee.

I was like, it jumped up.

So when you see the skill that those lads have, you realise, right, that's not the job you do.
