After making comments about a international protection accommodation service being set up in Uachtarard in West Galway, he made choice comments about not having migrants there and was effectively kind of taken out of Fianna Fáil because Micheál Martin said he did not approve of those comments and left Fianna Fáil and is now standing for independent Ireland.
He was the first loser, essentially, in the 2024.
