So the Gola Speedsters, anyone of a certain vintage will remember them.
They were...
a black, the basic black Gola boot with a yellow, bright yellow stripe.
And, um, the Gola, the Gola stripes, uh, they were, um, made famous by Roy Race, who was, um, Google it.
Uh, he was, uh, a cartoon, uh, hero, a comic strip.
Um, he was like the hero footballer, Roy Race, played for Maltese Rovers.
Um, it was probably the first time that, uh, uh,
a brand was written into was part of a story.
So I managed to track down these boots and drove to Manchester in Failsworth to see a guy called Degsy, Derek, who I did actually know him.
Drove to his house.
He's got this mad, like,
Like a lot of people have got these rooms just crammed full of incredible vintage football boots, track suits.
It's like, you know, it's my dream.
A lot of people I know are the same as me, so I'm not as weird as I appear to be.
And all in a box, you know, just box fresh, never worn from, you know, 50 years ago, probably now.
