And what brought this to mind for me is I was reading a report from the Climate Change Council in the UK, and they submitted a report to the British government, and it warned that because Britain only produced
I think it's about 57% of its own food.
There represented a huge risk in the event of a breakdown of international supply chains, that there would be 40% of their food they would have to import.
And this represented a supply chain risk to the UK and like a real danger.
So they've marked this up as a serious risk.
And that got me thinking, what's the equivalent Irish vulnerability?
So rather than in the British case producing about 57%.
Percent of their food on the island of Britain, we produce about somewhere between 15 and 20 percent.
So we're ek we import more than 80 percent of everything that is in your shops and supermarkets.
Now that is an incredible vulnerability.
That's number one.
Number two, look at the supply chains, Matt.
We're at the very edge of Europe.
We're at the end of international supply chains.
