It may or may not, but we're in and around 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial temperatures.

That was the red line, the warning line that we were told that essentially critical Earth systems start to unravel round about that temperature.

Things like the West Antarctic ice sheet moves into a collapsed state, possibly Western Greenland, and also the gradual commitment to the disappearance of floating sea ice in the Arctic.

There's a whole bunch of sort of...

tripping points that you can tip over as you move past 1.5 degrees.

So we have this enormous additional energy and it's expressing itself in Europe in extreme high temperature conditions.

And I was listening to various interviews from people who are in Europe and they're having to deal with temperatures in the range of 35 to 42 degrees centigrade.

Now, I've personally experienced that 40 degrees centigrade.

Wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

These are temperatures, essentially, which even we as tourists to Western Europe would find next to unbearable.

Imagine the people trying to live there, trying to work, people working construction, people working in services, people working in farming.

And of course...

There's huge problems now with trying to manage the land.

We've seen that as part of what's happening in Europe is there's been a massive decline in agricultural production this summer.

Two billion euros worth of cereal production has been destroyed because of the extremely high temperatures.
