Year in and year out, they would run out of goals in the playoffs.
They were not offensively diversified enough.
Well, another one of these snippets that came out from the behind the scenes, and I always love to name the people involved, but their strength coach, and his name is slipping my mind, and we were watching, and they had this cinder block in the weight room.
And they had to all lift it when they started their workouts.
And one of the things was they wanted them to embrace the blue-collar work ethic and think about other things that came along.
But that strength coach didn't let anybody off the hook.
He talked about, hey, guys were in the shower, but they didn't do their post-game lift.
And he'd be like, huh, so you're going to shower twice after a game?
Or he'd see guys already in their suits and be like, oh, you're going to lift twice?
You're going to lift in your suits?
So he was sarcastic.
I think it's Billy Burniston.
Yeah, I believe so too.
Yeah, yeah.
And I thought his approach, you know, the sarcasm sometimes can get – I know I'm very sarcastic, and sometimes it can be a little bit heavy-handed at times.
But he, along with Rod Brendamore, and that was part of their vision and their standards, is that, you know, we got post-game workouts.
And players – and most teams do.
But holding the guys –
up to a standard that they get it done and there's no excuses.
Um, and probably on the off days when they didn't skate and what they got done to make sure that they, their efforts weren't sustainable for 82 games, but potentially a hundred games or 102 or 104 and whatever it took.
