They ran Vegas out of the building with their speed, tempo, pace, and physicality.
Well, again, how you play in your defensive zone a lot of times stems and starts in the neutral zone.
I don't think enough coaches or sometimes when we analyze the game, we don't realize how through that neutral zone defensively or offensively, how it sets you up for the next actions in one of those two ends.
And their pressure outside dots is, you know, there's a few teams that do it.
But at the rate that they execute with the next level of support from a forward, the next level of support from their D2, who's in the middle of the ice and jumps that next guy.
And then that leads to their D zone coverage.
And they are as close to 100% man on man.
Not a lot of teams play 100% man-on-man.
We saw some breakdowns early in the series against Vegas.
We saw where they left the net front, and then there was that great pass by Mitch Marner.
He slips it, and I think there were two goals where they left guys wide open in front, and those...
kinds of breakdowns can happen, right?
If someone falls down, if you run a crisscross play, you make defenders miss or collide and it breaks up some of their coverages.
Montreal's was not exactly the same.
A lot of their man-to-man coverage started when an offensive team went low to high with a puck
and beat their coverage with that low to high, and then they'd go to that man-to-man.
Or if a guy carried the puck from the corner up the wall, and then they went man-to-man.
And then you've got other teams that do handoffs at certain times.
But again...
