Don't come out heavy handed and require everybody to put a sidewalk in front of their house all at once. podcast-host

The idea is that over time, as people redevelop their properties, eventually everything will wind up with a sidewalk in front of it at some point down the road. podcast-host

Um, which is fine for most of our neighborhoods that you know are are in more of a grid kind of a pattern. podcast-host

But for a neighborhood like Sunrise Intercoastal, where you've got one road in and one road out, uh podcast-host

It doesn't really make sense. podcast-host

These are not these are not streets that have a significant amount of vehicular traffic. podcast-host

There's nobody driving through the neighborhood. podcast-host

It's not a cut-through area. podcast-host

Again, when I lived on 15th Avenue, that's a major cut-through from Los Solos all the way up to Oakland Park Boulevard. podcast-host

So I get the necessity of sidewalks for pedestrian safety and everything else, and I was a huge advocate for it. podcast-host

But in some of these neighborhoods, again like Sunrise Intercoastal, like Coral Shores, where there's very podcast-host

very limited ingress and egress into the neighborhood. podcast-host

I I don't think it makes sense to do that. podcast-host

Most of these residents don't want sidewalks in the neighborhood. podcast-host

They like the somewhat bucolic nature of their neighborhoods. podcast-host

They they walk in the street because there is very little traffic there. podcast-host

So I know we probably can't do it at this juncture, but one of the things that I think we need to consider podcast-host

uh is perhaps exempting certain neighborhoods where they just don't make sense because I think uh having a uniform requirement that everybody put in a sidewalk is going to be difficult. podcast-host

Now I think with Scott one of the conditions of a waiver is that it can create a drainage issue. podcast-host

And I believe in his particular location it will create that drainage issue. podcast-host
