Later on, he said, well, when he talks to Moses, I always found this to be fascinating.
He says, you know, I revealed myself to your forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but I did not tell them my name.
Well, I have a theory on it.
I mean, I think that it's in this moment that the way that God's story is unfolding is He's revealing that His true essence is in His name.
Yahweh...
He's present.
He's a God that wants to be present.
So the story's unfolding, and it hasn't quite got there yet.
Even with Jacob, though, Jacob's ladder is a temple motif.
And so when you start to understand what is the point of a temple...
It's the place where heaven and earth meet.
It's where God meets with man.
That got distorted in the fall, but Eden should be thought of as a temple.
And so the whole story is moving to how is God going to make us home and people.
So this is what's happening in that moment.
So when God reveals his name for the very first time, and you can go through the rest of Scripture and how much of it is dependent.
His name is like the thing, right?
So then you move into the New Testament.
Well, the book of John, how many times has Jesus used the same?
I am.
