I think what Catherine has picked up on.
and explained even better than I have, is that when you look at a grid pattern city like Limerick, which is quite distinctly different than some of the other cities in Ireland, you have the ability to allow cars to get access.
And in fact, the studies have been done as part of our transport strategy.
And maybe we just got lucky that most of our car parks, the multi-story car parks in Limerick, are actually located on the edges of what we see as the superblocks.
And so we can actually allow people to drive all the way into the city centre, park up their cars and then walk a couple of blocks away.
And people who know the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick very well will know that people park all over the car park in the Crescent in Limerick.
But actually, if you superimpose the size of the car park in the Crescent,
on top of George and Limerick.
They're the same size.
So the idea that people can get access right into the centre, through any of the many roads that come in, even if we close down one or two, park up their cars and walk around like they do on a Saturday morning around the milk market, that's the kind of environment that I'm so lucky as a mayor to have been given by the people that designed the city.
Can I just pick up on one point you mentioned at some point, Landair, which is there is an idea that most of the shops that actually are in our city centres require somebody with a car to
to actually buy the stuff and that is true for the larger you know um stuff that people buy but by increasingly that's all given by delivery and things like that now when you buy a fridge or even a tv most of the produce that's sold in dublin city center and increasingly here in
by people who are in for an experience in an urban city, whether it's a town or a city.
And they're actually buying small stuff.
They're walking into the bookshop and they're buying a book for their friend, or they're buying some flowers to take home.
And that is stuff that people are more than happy
to either park that car a little bit, you know, in a multi-storey walk to it or get the bus and go home or indeed even walk.
And I think we need to, when we look at these, which is why we're doing this so much as trials here in Limerick, we're going to monitor the number of cars, we're going to see how it fits into our transport strategy.
It's really important that we rely on evidence.
and what is actually the evidence from other places that have moved ahead of us in Ireland.
