And for me, that was a real milestone of them mentioning that.
The big four banks two weeks ago announced that they're aligned with a major stable coin backed pretty heavily by Stripe, as well as Coinbase called OpenUSD.
And these are quite big moves for banks that have been quite bearish and pretty cold on crypto, particularly noting that they're the same banks that have been debanking lots of our customers.
Why I thought the Westpac thing was interesting because it's kind of come full circle.
They had a fund backed by Brian Hartzner called Reinventure.
They were a round C investor in Coinbase.
Brian was on one of those CEO visits to Silicon Valley.
He met Brian Armstrong, two Brians, the Coinbase co-founder and CEO, and put a nice little chunk of change into an early round at Coinbase.
That delivered a huge payoff for ReinVenture, and that would have gone on to fund another 50 to 100 ventures in Australia.
That fund got shut down or wound down by recent leadership at Westpac.
And Westpac were pretty slow in this space.
But they've just hired the former CEO of an Australian digital asset exchange the other day, and they've just announced this thought leadership piece.
And that just struck my team as quite an interesting kind of milestone for Australia.
So I think we're growing up, and hopefully Westpac are growing up with us.
Great question.
Stablecoins are now heavily skewed towards US dollar-backed stablecoins, and they're on a tearaway in terms of settlements for trade and remittance and effectively bringing foreign exchange trading online.
But in Australia, some early use cases we're seeing are around that remittance corridor for migrant workers, students, people, if we talk about Philippines,
all of the Asian economies, to be honest.
Mainland China, if there is a fresh produce producer from Queensland who has trouble getting trade finance, they have a Chinese importer-exporter in Guangdong, they can effectively settle with USDC overnight to clear their trading.
That's one that we're seeing some early green shoots on.
