That's slowed down, I don't know, between fifty and eighty percent, depending which market you're looking at.
So the the move higher in gold over the last few years, which was originally driven by emerging market players, um, now very much more by, I think, Western financial investors.
I don't think the man in the street is actually turning to gold in the in the same sort of way.
We'll get better data on that when we um when we when we get our gold demand trends data in the next few weeks.
But
Certainly Western physical buying of gold hasn't been a big theme in in the gold market in the last two or three years.
I was gonna say, if all of those things were to happen, I think there would be less
justification for having a large goal position than there is at the moment.
And if you genuinely believe that we're about to go back to the early 2000s when we were having collaboration between in uh between China and the United States and signing trade agreements and we were seeing increased globalization and governments were running surpluses, because you mentioned debt coming down.
The only way debt comes down is if governments were on surpluses, not that deficits are under control.
Um I don't think hot wars are a big part of this, as I've said, but hey, let's let let's talk about
gold piece too.
If you believe all of these things, yeah, then probably d uh then probably you should have less gold in your portfolio.
I'm a grandfather now, um and I hope all of those things that we've spoken about come true.
I'm just not very optimistic that they're on the horizon.
Look, um the biggest thing I think on the downside, uh, would probably be signs that we have had
What what do you might call a blow off top in gold?
In other words, what it opens fifty dollars lower than it closed the previous day and never retraces and does that for a for a length of time and you know when the move turns truly exponential.
And I guess it's fair to say, if you look over the last
Four to six weeks, there might be the b beginning signs of that.
