One of the things I always think about when someone's talking about using gold to back a currency, or indeed anything else to back a currency, it's not a sign of strength.
It's usually a sign of weakness.
Now in this case, I think it's because the

nations don't really want each other's currencies and they don't really trust each other.
So having a common currency which they could trade with each other where the balances could be settled in gold might make a lot of sense.
Because in a way, if you've if you've got a a stash of gold in a secure, trusted location, um, you know, that provides trust to these flows and these currencies.

China's a big exporter and importer.
So if you think about currency uh commodity imports, you think about uh manufactured good exports, that's a big number.
Um but it's you're right, it's not the same size as uh as the entire currency in circulation.

The centre of the gold market is is London and to a certain extent other countries in Europe.
You wouldn't p want to put it there.
