And this was in a part of, people think of Los Angeles as like maybe cities and highways and cement and asphalt and stuff.
But there's rural, you drive a little bit and there's like rural greater Los Angeles.
And this was part of that real expensive place, real quiet street.
And yeah, so there was kind of a fence out the front.
And so once you got in, you sort of could go, okay, I'm not going to be spotted.
But then it was like, maybe I will because it's like the houses on the other side, you know, there was like a hilly area and it's like, oh.
I already knew there was an outpost on the other side where just talking to one of the neighbours before I went in, he was saying that, oh, the neighbour on the other side was furious with Kanye building all this stuff in his yard without the proper permit.
So he was taking photos from this outpost.
and then sending them to TMZ to try to get him in trouble.
And so the whole time I was in the match, I was like, oh, I've just got to be careful.
I'm not spotted from that outpost.
And, yeah, so, yeah, it was kind of crazy.
And then it probably sounds crazy in the context of reading it in the book or even hearing the story now, but it was even crazier there because I just didn't quite know
what the story was exactly, like what the through line was.
And that's also a part of my work and I guess a lot of people's work.
Like I'm not quite a journalist in so much as sometimes I'm just chasing down, like attracted to some thing and I'm thinking, oh,
At some later point, I'll pull this all together.
There must be something here because I'm feeling it.
I'm feeling it.
And, yeah, when I was lying there, I was mainly โ I mean, that's sort of the invisible part of a lot of my work where people go, well, what were you thinking when you walked through the โ into the Ku Klux Klan compound?
