It succeeded fairly well for a while, but the central banks are
central to coin a phrase.
You r can't run a banking system without one.
Although we tried for about eighty years because the Jeffersonians just loathed banking and the bigger the bank, the more they loathed it.
So they kept killing the central bank.
And so the Bank of North America functions as a
as a central bank until it then took a Pennsylvania charter and became the Bank of Pennsylvania.
