Um and some of the Monty stories are just great.
Uh I had a buddy who's also uh a journalist and was texting me just like he was cracking up laughing, uh the kind of image of Monty Kiffin just in a sauna, just ripping Sigs.
Um but Monty Kiffin was just like an old school guy, uh, who everyone loved.
And there's just an ease or there was an ease to Monty Kiffin that that Lane just does not have.
And you know, some of the stories that come to mind for me like
Like him being a Knoxville, like he was the kind of guy who could walk into you know the local chevron, uh, buy a six pack of beer, cut up with the cashier, take a photo, let someone try on his Super Bowl ring.
Like he just had that thing about him that that Lane does not have.
And it's one of the things that I thought was so interesting to explore, Bobby, because there's no doubt that Lane, like, he puts his dad on a pedestal.
Uh he was even
Talking about his dad uh after the game uh at Ole Miss over the weekend, about you know how he missed his dad going into a big game like this.
Like he has a portrait of his dad in his office, and there's no question he is striving to be more like his dad.
But deep down, he really is not that much like his dad, at least from a personality and emotional component standpoint.
So it's just kind of this internal strife, I think, for Lane that he always wants to be more like.
like his dad because everyone loves his dad, but the thing that people seem to love the most about his dad does not come very easily to Lane.
And that's kind of an interesting dynamic for him.
Very much ahead of his time.
I mean, he also had like a a you know fight with Joe Frazier, um, and which like he was like, I'm gonna stand up to him.
And then I think once he got face to face with him, realized he might have bit off a little more than he could chew.
Um, but he was always kind of this charismatic guy who had these kind of somewhat harebrained theme uh schemes, but they were funny and players loved him and coaches loved him.
And Bobby, you're one thousand percent right.
