You know, a data center, I mean, uh it's just a room with a bunch of computers in it at the end of the day, right?
Like that is what a data center is.
Their computers are very powerful, they're big, crazy machines, but like they're they're just machines in a room.
The cooling systems for AI have to be much more intense than the cooling systems for a non-AI computer, because the AI computer is gonna run a lot hotter.
What they oftentimes do is they pump water kind of around the the machines to like get the heat out.
out and pump it out.
Those water needs are massive compared to what they would be otherwise.
Now, I should say data center advocates will say, yeah, well, you know, that technology is improving all the time.
There are ways to mitigate this, et cetera, et cetera.
And I think there's some truth to this, right?
If you want the the thing, you have to like accept that there are these physical limitations to our machines and treat them accordingly.
But I think people are now more to
To some of the costs, both environmental and health, to some of these data centers, whether it's the sound pollution or whether it's the air pollution that can come from some of the power generation or or even the backup power generation in some cases.
You know, people are putting data centers in space.
That's the next idea, or underwater, you know, that there are all these ideas for how you can make data centers more, more, bigger.
I think there's there's still part of me that's got
got a little cyber utopian streak in him.
And I think there's there's something beautiful about these dreams that we can like push against these limits, make more compute so we can do more more cool things.
Part of me also wonders like, is it really a good thing for our psyches that we can add a button without doing any training or thought or whatever, like make a make a beautiful picture?
