That thought of like there are only so many weeks left where this is gonna be a thing that I get to do with my daughter is the I am mortal thought.
And I think that that I am mortal thought needs to be transported to the internet.
And one of the ways
That the internet works right now is is it gives this fantasy of like complete control and complete frictionless whatever, right?
And like that that does not lend itself well to the kind of thinking of I only have so many weeks left on this earth.
Um and so I think if we want that kind of presenceful, I think the the word is mindful now, like way of being online.
We have to remember that we are going to die and that so is the stuff we're gonna make and that no one's gonna remember it.
I think remembering that we're gonna die and that the things we make are very likely not gonna be remembered very, very soon is an invitation for us to be more thoughtful about what we do remember and what we what we do try to maintain.
I studied Baroque music in college and it's very old music.
And the only real reason that like we still know it and care about it is that we spun up human institutions, orchestras and conservatories to like train the next generation.
To remember that music.
And I think that that's like really beautiful that we as a species decided these are some of the things we're going to care about.
Right.
And like that like act of remembrance as being a continual thing that we have to keep doing, like that is what the internet wants us to forget.
That is what the cloud wants us to forget.
That like there are people and institutions and like flesh and blood people doing things to make things happen and make things happen.
To remember something, to put it back in the body, to member it, to re recall it, uh, is to to bring it into your body again.
Remembrance is an action.
It is not something we just do.
Memory is a physical thing.
