She said, yeah, her punishment was that I had to audition for the play for the college production.
I think just like what you were talking about with, you know, Mr. Nolan in the beginning, I would have done anything Alma told me to do.
I wanted this.
It didn't take long.
I auditioned for that play.
And I remember telling my best friend, Greg Zumis, that summer that,
I remember sitting down with him when we had, you know, we were delivering pizzas at the beach.
And I remember telling him, man, this is what I have to do.
This is what I'm going to do.
Like, there's no question.
And I think, number one, you know, this sort of private school kid from D.C.
who thought he was all big and bad, you know, getting out and really seeing the world and seeing Moscow, I think, would be enormously humbling and just be a reality check that I needed.
I think she also knew that I needed to kind of get away from all the people that I was with and that it was a group of young men that sort of crave danger is much different than one man on his own.
