Ways that in states where there has been corporate practice, where that control has existed, have been through these management service organizations.
These entities that were set up by corporations that wanted to have the ability to manage medical practice, but they knew they couldn't own it because state law essentially prohibited that.
So they would enter into a management company.
Contract.
and through that management contract they could in in essence, you know, ha control uh how that that worked.

Uh Oregon um
For a variety of reasons, decided that they did not want to even permit that level of control where a physician group would enter into a management contract where the management organization would have essentially control day-to-day in a lot of ways of how that medical practice operated.
And so they put significant restrictions on who can make any decisions around staff.
for the medical practice, around pricing for the medical practice, all kinds of restrictions through that SB 951 were part of were part of the new law.
But it it's even it's gotten to the point where uh in Oregon it's been making headlines and there was a a a case for um
hospital system, Peace Health was the name of it in Oregon, where the hospital uh wanted to essentially um change the um emergency physician group that was running their ERs.
And they were wanted to bring in an outside group to manage the ERs.
And that outside group was essentially being challenged by the existing group on the basis that it violated this new law.
The existing group had been there for 35 years.
It was owned and operated by physicians, and this was an outside group that the existing group
claimed was uh in violation.
And so um it led to some litigation.
Um it led to I believe termination of the CEO as I read uh in in that particular um situation.
And um in the end the physician group that had been there for thirty five years apparently, according to press reports, is now back in place and has has not been uh moved and it was all as a result of um this uh new legislation in Oregon.
