This is decades, right?
And often these things repeat.
But now I'm definitely seeing it as more of the foundation for how you best leverage AI.
In terms of what I think good productization looks like, for me, it's about having a configurable set of services that you can offer to a client where I can sit in front of you and say, hey, we've done this before.
We've got a proven methodology.
Roughly, it looks like this, and this is the outcome that we will achieve for you.
But there's these few different optional modules that sit around the side.
So rather than starting everything from scratch, oh yeah, we're completely bespoke every time.
It's the 80-20 rule.
80% of what we do is from this standardized methodology is underpinned by best practice, RIP, most likely leveraging AI.
But you've got the optionality around those edges, which means that the client can ultimately customize it to their requirements.
And they feel like they're not just buying something completely off the shelf, but they're getting
that balance of like a solution that is configured to specifically values.
I think where we can go too far is when it becomes, if you go rather than the 80-20, if you go to 100%, like this is what we do, this is how we do it.
I think it risks becoming sort of homogenous and commoditized in nature.
And it can be a sort of a little bit of a race to the bottom in that regard.
But I think if you have that 80-20 and you have those different sort of modules that you are assembling,
it means that behind each of those different sort of modules of your service proposition, you can have the IP, the knowledge, the standard operating procedures, the standardized outputs, whatever it might be.
You can begin to build that sort of foundational knowledge infrastructure, if you like, which underpins your delivery, which is how you then best leverage AI.
So I think that's not necessarily different to what it's been over the last 10 or 20 years, but I think it's definitely coming back into focus as part of that move from TNM to fixed fee.
