The Rays just have more pathways to creating and scoring runs than the Blue Jays do.
The Blue Jays, because they haven't been slugging, their only pathway to scoring runs is stringing together singles.
And in this 2026 landscape of baseball, that's not a viable way to score runs consistently.
Yeah, an offensive barrage with three runs.
uh command really it's come down to location execution um but yeah man he has been outstanding his last two times out only eight base runners and one run over his last 13 innings and it's been a really impressive turnaround because he struggled majorly in there's in those first four outings coming off the injured list 10 walks and seven homers allowed in those first four starts but yeah his location has just been much improved of late and his command yesterday was the sharpest it's been all year he didn't walk anybody for the first time since his season debut
He threw 66% strikes, which was his second highest rate of the year.
But I think more importantly, he just left so few pitches in the middle of the zone.
When he missed, he missed outside the strike zone.
He clearly came in with a plan to attack the Rays hitters up with fastballs.
His fastball usage yesterday was up 6% over his season average.
And he executed, and the results were a lot of weak contact, only five hard hit balls, two of which were pounded into the ground.
And also a lot of quick outs.
He made it through seven innings throwing just 86 pitches.
Incredibly efficient.
It's been great to see him lock in over the last couple starts.
It's definitely got to be a welcome development for Ross Atkins as he starts to entertain trade offers for Bieber.
