Would he command an enormous haul if the Blue Jays end up selling as we expect and they trade him off?
No.
I mean, this version of Bieber, as you mentioned, you know, he doesn't generate a ton of swing and miss.
The stuff isn't screaming at you like a Jacob Mizorowski.
He's coming off Tommy John surgery at 31 years old.
He's not an ace.
He's not going to start game one or game two of a playoff series.
But every contender almost always needs starting pitching.
And the way he's looked...
these last couple times out, he would definitely be an attractive piece.
Obviously, you know, last year when the Blue Jays acquired him, they didn't even have to give up a top 10 organizational prospect to get him.
Cal Stephen was, I believe, 11th on MLB Pipeline for the Blue Jays last year.
So I think that expectations should be tempered in terms of what the Blue Jays could hope to get back for Shane Bieber at this point.
But...
just the way that he's pitched these last two times out, he has at least reestablished himself as a viable trade target.
I think theoretically it needs to be higher, right?
Because he doesn't have the margin for error, right?
Like if his stuff, or pardon me, if his command is off, right, he's got nothing, right?
He's not going to beat guys in the zone.
He can't just grind his way through five innings being effectively wild, you know, missing the zone, but also missing bats with 99, right?
