as we've seen across these past six games, you're going to get beat by, you know, between six, or sorry, between 10 and 20 odd points.
Yeah, and I think the point that you make about 22-23 is exactly what I was going to say to that.
Because if you think about Ireland, whenever they were the best team in the world, whenever they were better than the likes of New Zealand and better than the likes of France in beating those sides, it was their unerring accuracy.
And I think that's what's made it so jarring over the last two years is to see all these mistakes come into the game.
In terms of being the best team,
team and team with a capital T I think it's interesting to think about how that projects forward and what Ireland can do to change that because if you look whenever they're playing the very best teams and you talk there about sort of the points of difference that South Africa have with their power the points of difference that France have with their flair you know what's what's Ireland's point of difference going to be in attack because
The way that they're playing now, to compare with the way that the All Blacks were playing on Saturday, I think in terms of personnel, it's a difficult thing to see how that progresses.
Because I think the way that New Zealand attacked with Damien McKenzie as that sort of second playmaker, and almost Jodie Barrett as a third playmaker, really taking that burden off.
Lothley, again, I thought had a good game, but...
really taking the pressure off him.
It's difficult to see how Ireland can progress into that sort of attack because I don't, you know, Hugo Keenan was Ireland's best player in Australia, which is their most impressive win of this summer.
But that's not something that I think is really suited to his game in the way that Damien McKenzie can.
And even McCluskey, who has been Ireland's best player over the past 12 months, doesn't
take the pressure off the 10 apart from in the sense that you know you can give him the ball and he'll maybe beat us after contact so I don't see where Ireland in the next 15 months
develop that point of difference in comparison to the top three and like this is obviously we know with the draw that they have they don't really need to play them for a long time in that tournament presuming they take care of the business in the pool but if you're projecting forward and talking about going to the World Cup to be the best team
in the world, I think there's, there's a big jump to be made in terms of attack, because I don't think you can just say, look back to 2022, 23 and say, well, we just need to get back to that model and refine it slightly.
Yeah, I think the Leinster point is an interesting one.
You know, we talk a lot about Leinster, one, in terms of bulk suppliers, but two, spoken ad lauseum about the way that they're playing as distinctly separate from the national team, whereas that wasn't the case two or four years ago.
