The projection of more than 7 million people will lose Medicaid because of this bill.
And, you know, that's on top of another 1.8 million who will lose coverage through the Affordable Care Act, which is something they also stuck in the bill along the way just to get some extra savings.
Yeah, yeah.
So it's 7.7 million for Medicaid, 1.8 million losing it from the Affordable Care Act.
Again, that is, so number one, that was not a full estimate because they didn't have time to analyze everything in the bill.
These are just the main components of the bill.
And
B, that's based on a bill that was posted on Sunday night, and they've already changed the bill.
So I think this is roughly, in terms of magnitude, nature of the cuts, this is what we're talking about.
But the numbers will change by the time the bill is done.
No, it's not hyperbolic.
Look, we have a lot of evidence about the impact of Medicaid, quite a bit.
We've had a lot of studies and the studies are pretty conclusive now that we've always known that Medicaid helps people get access to health care.
We've always known
that it helps people weather the financial burden of medical bills, which we all know.
I mean, you know, medical bills are very expensive.
They drive people into bankruptcy.
They make it hard to pay your rent, keep up with your car payments.
But especially in the last few years, we've had a series of studies that looked very specifically at the effects of getting Medicaid on your health and on your propensity to live or die, which is actually
from a social scientist standpoint, quite hard to measure, but we've had now a bunch of efforts.
