The fact that some states have expanded Medicaid more than others creates a nice set of experiments you can run.
And the evidence is overwhelming at this point that when you give people Medicaid,
They get better health care.
And because of that, they live longer.
And, you know, there's one study out there that basically more or less.
And you want to be careful putting real precise numbers on these because these these estimates are not that precise.
But it basically calculated that in the last 10 years since the Affordable Care Act came into law and expanded Medicaid for millions of Americans, probably saved about 12000 lives.
And of course, if you're saving a couple of thousand people's lives, then it stands to reason a much larger group of people got health benefits.
You know, maybe it wasn't the difference between life and death, but maybe it was the difference between not living in pain or having, you know, or being able to work instead of living with a disability.
So just a really enormous amount of impact.
absolutely you know she said that if you hear the whole quote at least you i'm glad you played the whole quote because you get the sense from that whole quote that what she's saying is that people have distorted this so much you know once this bill gets passed you'll see it doesn't look anything like these distortions which was true by the way um some of the criticisms were absolutely right but a lot of them were made up but if you look back was that that was obamacare right that was yeah that was obama this is the affordable care act which was signed into law in you know 2010
March of 2010, Obama's president, Pelosi back then was speaker of the House.
And, you know, that date's important because they started talking about the law that became the Affordable Care Act in the spring of 2009.
There was a whole year of debate there.
And, you know, in my article, I talk about the fact that the committee that just had the vote to vote the bill out, the Energy and Commerce Committee in the House.
in the months between when they started talking about health care reform and finally voted out a bill back in 2009 they had eight hearings eight hearings eight full hearings with experts and testimony to talk about different aspects of the bill and then there was a two-week period they debated the bill before voting on it do you know how many hearings they had this year on health care before voting on this bill zero wow well there you go so you may have to pass the bill to see what's actually exactly
