I had an Argentinian girlfriend for a while.
And my girlfriend's father was a massive fan of the Beatles.
And...
before the Falklands War, if any member of the Beatles came on TV, he would stand up out of respect.
And after the Falklands War, he stopped.
It says he's quite an odd bloke.
But yeah, it's a thing I struggle to understand the Argentinian mindset because it seems to me, even one of the songs that the team and fans sing talks about our kids who died in the Malvinas.
And they specify kids, pibas is the word they use.
And they seem to blame the British for that.
And they say, hang on, it's your government who sent untrained 17-year-olds.
So basically, there was National Service in Argentina at the time.
You'd start on January 1st, you'd finish on December 31st.
And the initial idea was, the hunter realized they're losing power and legitimacy.
They need a conflict for everybody to rally behind.
They look at, we'll go for the Falklands, look at Britain.
It's this sort of shambling wreck.
They'll never fight back.
Why do they care about these rocks in the middle of nowhere?
And to an extent, why would you?
