The male, after the draw against Uruguay, the opening game of that World Cup, they're worried enough by Greaves to say, is it worth bringing in Hurst to replace Hunt?

So they're still thinking on those lines.

The idea of dropping Greaves is not there.

And that's kind of a bizarre thing to say, because at that point, Roger Hunt's only played 14 times for England and he scored 12 goals.

So he feels a much, much more obvious selection than Greaves.

But the myth of Greaves, the legend of Greaves is so great, people can't consider dropping him.

Yeah, I think that is true.

And I think that's something that journalists in particular at the time are struggling to deal with.

Well, I think that actually the closest comparison, obviously they're different types of player.

But if you remember before Euro 96, Alan Shearer went and he was 13 England games without scoring.

And nobody's actually saying, hmm, should it be Sheringham and Les Ferdinand?

Or should it be Sheringham and Andy Cole?

everybody thinks it should be Shearer.

It's just, come on, Alan, score some goals, which thankfully he does.

Yeah, or take him off earlier.
