So headline inflation eased to 4.0% annually, which is actually lower than expectations were going into that.
But the trimmed mean, which is the one that the RBA watches most closely, that actually ticked up to 3.6%.
So quite a mixed result there.
Some positives being a bit lower than expectation in that headline number, but still a bit of caution there.
That really helped shape sort of that domestic rate uncertainty and investors sort of rotated into defensives on the back of that news.
So we saw some mixed results in the mining sector.
Gold was actually down 2.9% globally through the week and that really weighed on the sector.
A partial recovery in the price on Friday actually did result in a little bit of a turnaround to end the week though.
The Australian dollar also fell 1.7% against the USD, which is really continuing that slide that we've seen there.
That's mainly based on that strength of the US dollar, those expectations of US rate hikes that we spoke about, and also that easing pressure on the RBA to kind of help to keep tightening.

New Zealand really was a pretty flat week on our markets there.
We essentially kind of finished the week unchanged and that really bucks that broader trend that we've seen in other Asia
So, the South Korea KOSPI fell 7.8% and Japan's Nikkei tumbled 4.7%, largely around that influence of tech that we see less of an impact here in New Zealand markets.
The New Zealand dollar, however, did touch a seven-month low this week, falling as low as 56.26 US cents.
That weakness was, although on the bright side, actually a meaningful tailwind for exporters where they actually feel that that currency can kind of boost their overseas earnings.
Rates were also in focus here in New Zealand as well.
Both ASB Bank and Westpac New Zealand have updated their RBNZ forecasts, both saying that they're expecting the central bank to hold the official cash rate at 2.25% at next month's meeting.

So in addition to what I mentioned earlier, that constantly shifting situation in Iran, there's also quite a few data prints to come this current week for a lot of the US market news.
