Y es un placer tenerlos aquí in el Palacio Municipal dando les gracias para todo el trabajo que hacen.

Uh I'm uh Chito Vela, Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Austin and I'm

I am here to welcome our promotoras and promotores who they do great work w uh in the community, especially in the in the Spanish speaking community, making sure folks are aware of services and that they're informed, that they're organized, that they have access to resources.

And I want to thank also so much uh uh Vanessa Fuentes, Council members Vanessa Fuentes and Natasha Harper Madison for being here with me.

And I'm gonna start in English, switch over to Spanish and then turn it over a little bit.

So it's gonna be a bilingual proclamation today, folks.

Um today we're celebrating National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, August 24th through 28th, a week dedicated to recognizing the people who serve as trusted bridges between communities and health and social services.

I'm proud to recognize uh promotoras and promoters of salud at Austin V.

Voices for education and youth who do some of the most important work in our community, often uh behind the scenes.
