Be it known that whereas, Nowruz, meaning New Day, is the ancient Persian New Year celebrated for more than 3,000 years and marks the arrival of spring and the vernal equinox.

And whereas, Nowruz is celebrated by millions of people around the world and by diverse communities in Austin, including Iranian-American and Persian-speaking residents.

And whereas, Nowruz is a time of renewal, hope, peace, and harmony with nature and its traditions.
