I know a lot of Republican people. I was raised in the country. I'm surrounded by Republican people who I love, who I can rely on, who I could drop my kids off with, who I trust and all this kind of stuff. But there's this extreme version of absolutely zero trust that I go, okay, so now we're in a place where we have to confront each other and it's on me. Uh-huh.

Ich habe mal eine Szene mit De Niro gemacht. Vielleicht war das es. Vielleicht war das es, weil wir uns immer mit De Niro und Scorsese verabschieden. Aber es gibt etwas darüber, dass du dich immer so bezeichnest, und wir sind in diesem Sinne sehr ähnlich,
Ich weiß nicht, ob es Marvel oder Dune gibt, es gab einige wirklich tolle Filmmacher, aber es gab eine Komfortzone in diesem Film-Echelon, wo ich gesagt habe, okay, ich mag das, aber ich vermisse die Angst. Ich vermisse die Gefahr. Ich vermisse nicht zu wissen, ob ich es entfernen kann. Ich vermisse... Really, truly freaking out because I don't know if I can live up to something that's great.
Aber das ist ein tolles Platz. Es ist das Beste. Es ist das beste Platz.

But to come back to this base place is the most... You and I say it in the same way. We say, I don't give a fuck, but you do give a fuck, but you're not pandering anymore. It's not about, do you accept me? Am I likable? Am I this? Am I doing the... It becomes about something else. It becomes much more emotional. It becomes of spirit. It becomes all that stuff. It's very base.

Ich habe dieses Ding mit Rian Johnson gemacht, und das war das Ding, dass es gefährlich war. Ich musste einen Rollen machen. Es war Knives Out 3. Ist das raus? Nein. Okay. Das kommt in einem Jahr raus. Und das war einer der gefährlichen Rollen, der aufgehört hat und gesagt hat, willst du das machen? Und ich habe es gelesen und gesagt, das ist so fucking gut geschrieben.
Ich weiß nicht, ob ich genug gut genug bin, um das zu machen. Und ich war so, okay. Und du kommst raus und es gibt große Reden und ich mache es vor Glenn Close.
All these actors that I respect and I love. And I'm shitting my pants, man. And they're all super excited. Josh is so funny. He's so good on the set. He's great. You're going to love him. And then they get there and I'm like shut down in fear and all that. And then, okay, now these scenes come up. How are you going to play this scene? And they're all watching me.
Not only the hundred members of the crew. But it's an ensemble thing.
So everyone's there. Am I too serious? They hire too serious. I heard they were going for Kevin Costner first. Oh, you heard that. Which then I heard wasn't true. And then it doesn't matter. The thing is, I prepped so hard for it. It was like I was doing my first role. Ich saß im Hotel und sie riefen mich von unten, um 2 Uhr morgens zu sagen, Herr, bitte halten Sie das.
