see it as a team responsibility and when i say that i mean richard hughes i mean michael edwards is funny i was i was sort of trying to think about because there's been you know a fair amount for the same people who've been saying that they want anna sacks saying they want richard hughes and michael edwards sacked and i was like i don't actually know what the day-to-day of their jobs looks like really it's not always just signing footballs it might be going out scouting footballs and whatever but i don't really know that personally so it's hard for me to argue that i think they're like terrible at their jobs

I think the fact that Richard Hughes came out and spoke with Arne Slott at the start I mean has not been seen since has been sort of slightly strange besides like one video for the club but besides that he's a man whose job has been hard to judge Arne Slott as Ian says over the course this season has been much more you know in the firing line there to be judged every time he speaks in a press conference I've been like you know for the most part disappointed or at least non-plussed by it whereas I feel like every time Jurgen spoke for example and I hate doing the years and fires thing but every time Jurgen spoke for example

you'd always feel like you came out of it bored even if it was like bad news or he'd got into an argument with a journalist something you'd kind of come away from it buzzing whereas it feels like with slot this season that's not really been the case and yet I wonder when they've sort of looked at this bit bigger picture and thought for one it's a very FSG thing to do to be like the manager's got one year left on his contract

we'll go into this final year and that will be the real litmus test because as Ian said you don't want to sack a league winning manager but if somebody got a manager who's on a three-year contract and has two terrible years and only one good one well the bad outweighs the good then doesn't it so I think they'll be looking at it thinking that and it will be you know a real make or break year going into that but also there's maybe just not an obvious and gettable candidate like for all the talk of Xabi Alonso how gettable actually is he

Steven Gerrard is someone I've almost like lobbied for a bit just to try and like feel something this season and yet I would still acknowledge it like he's not a clear upgrade on a slot so maybe there's just too many of those question marks around the people that it could be taking over that you just kind of go we'll just stick going into this final year and it's make or break for him.

And I think you both made the point there about how, you know, for as poor as the Liverpool season's been, there's still a very good chance we finish third this season.

I think you've seen in the league this season and even last season really with how low Spurs and United finish.

It's funny how much people are sort of acting surprised at Spurs, I think, this season because

you could argue this was coming for how bad the players were last season.

They qualified for the Champions League, for me, way ahead of, you know, the transition period that they're in and suddenly they look even worse this season.

But the one team, one other team besides Liverpool that have been pretty consistent in not sort of falling below like eighth as Jurgen's worst season.

maybe make a few last mistakes but there is some chatter now ian about guardiola potentially getting off and i mean for as for as glad as i've been seeing that bernardo silver letter that basically confirms he's getting off is he actually going now i felt another sweet relief and i was like actually let's just wait and see him in another shirt before uh heff lind has basically announced it didn't he say yeah he's off for the end of the season the whole world went don't think you're supposed to say no yeah

But I feel like this happened before.

I feel like I've been here before where it feels like Bernardo Silva's about to leave.

But if we imagine a scenario in which Guardiola and Bernardo Silva do finally leave City in the summer and my heart can sing a gleeful song, I'd be interested to see who they line up next because they've been sort of mentioning those Alonso sweepstakes as well.

There was the talk that came out after Chelsea sacked Maresca that Maresca had been in talks for the City job and that kind of makes sense.

It's almost like a boot room succession play from their point of view because Maresca was in Pep's backroom staff and stuff.
