And it's like, yeah, I guess this is what happens when you don't really like go outside and go into the world.
One of my biggest points of contention with this book was how Caleb evolved as a character.
That was what I could not get enough of.
Yeah, well, because I was just like, I want to know what happens.
And, like, when they found the microphone, like, the little, like, nub of the microphone, I was like, oh, my God, like, I'm so... And this happens early on.

Because then I was like, oh, this is going to be something more interesting than just what the book actually is.

Yes, let me take this on.
So the twist is that Natalie and Caleb basically decided to live without modern implements in the modern world.
They decided to basically strip their lives back to what would have been available to them in 1855.
Yes, we are fully in the future.
And the children that Natalie is surrounded by are actually her children.
And the original brood of five that she had left and went to go live with Natalie's mother.
Yeah, adolescent.
And I think the inciting reason for this return to like 1855 way of life is a really damning expose where the producer that was living with the family and helping Natalie finesse her online appearance and shoot her videos and her reels came forward with an allegation of abuse and

And what prompted Natalie to, you know, assault the producer was that her husband was threatening to leave Natalie for the producer and move to Brooklyn.
