And they wanted someone that they felt more comfortable being in that position, which I guess they view Colin Sexton in that way.
I understand that.
But I also think you look at their perimeter defense, and I think one through four, they have the worst perimeter defense of any of the top 10 or 12 teams in the league.
Maybe you could throw Cleveland in there, depending on which direction they go with, like, filling out their roster.
But I think, like, this is just not good enough, and I would say worse than last year even.
So I think that's where I have the biggest issue with what they did was that, like,
you know i get the i look at like points per possession off of closeouts right like these guys are better than last year's guys so there was like an upgrade element of dribble pass shoot jj talked about that there's more dynamism here with the role players and the supporting cast but that's to me not the most important thing it's like if you have this foundation of luca austin walker kessler you look at the skill sets there and what what are you building out of uh
The clear thing you need around those three is perimeter defense.
That's the most important thing, more important than a stretch big, more important than a backup point guard.
It's you need elite perimeter defense to protect Austin and Luca defensively and to make Walker Kessler's job easier.
And they just didn't go out and do that.
And now they're in a position where we're recording this before they've potentially added a power forward or this wing or whatever.
Yeah.
Quentin Grimes is basically like they're asking him to be Derek White.
They're asking Quentin Grimes to be their top point of attack slash like wing stopper guy on their defense and then also be their third option offensively.
And I just think that's a miss slotting of Quentin Grimes.
Like, I think you want him as like your fifth or sixth guy, not your third guy offensively and second guy defensively.
I just think that that's, you know, the wrong approach.
So, I mean, I guess if you view it as like they filled out their bench and they still need a couple starters, okay, I see the vision.
But if the vision is Grimes and Mamou are starters, I think that's just, you know, a misunderstanding of what you really need around Luka, Austin, and Walker.
