If I can offer a point of information, it's actually a requirement of the Maddie Act.

It has a whole series of requirements for how you conduct recruitment and the period that it should last and what triggers it and the vacancy would trigger it.

Yeah, to that point, I think that maybe we're just getting a little too pedantic on the expression official capacity.

To me, official capacity means that you are attempting to represent the commission itself.

So as long as there is some sort of disclaimer that you are not representing the opinion of the commission, you're representing the opinion of yourself, I think that's perfectly fine.

You should be allowed to reflect on what happened at the commission.

I think our rules already allow for that.

So I don't know that we need to change any of this.

Yeah, I wanted to at least echo the very first point that Council Member Wong made about recruitment and what happens in a situation where you have a lighter than expected number of applicants.

If it's a reasonable compromise, I think what we could write.

The standard is that it is disfavored to have that sort of arrangement, but that it's waivable by council.

So if we decided that we would really like to be able to offer that, we ought to.

I'd also just underscore that people in the same household don't necessarily agree on everything.

They might even rather violently disagree.

I think that's especially true when you're talking about the parent-child relationship.

People often see the world very differently.

And so I don't really want to sort of work a corruption of the blood, so to speak, to say, oh, well, this other person from the House poll, therefore, is going to be exactly the same as this other individual we've already got under commission.

Just guilt by association.

I think that's probably an issue.

I think that since it's generally been our practice to not appoint somebody to two commissions, that the disfavored but waivable is probably a good model to follow.
