So by the time you get done with all that and you actually get to a vote, it's almost a year, maybe at least a year, probably.
And then you go to the vote, and it's so heartbreaking when the vote fails after all of that work, and there are people going door to door trying to get their neighbors to
vote in favor of this because as I said before, if they don't vote, it's a no vote.
So it's really hard to get to that fifty percent threshold, um especially in the larger HOAs.
So um I appreciate my colleagues' support on this.

Um I'm well aware of the process, Miss Brixman.
I've had numerous votes in my district.
Some of them have passed, some of them have failed.
And if everybody remembers Sterling District, we do not have a lot of HOAs.
So we do not have paid professionals that are helping to go door to door and do this process.
This actually truly is volunteers that are living in the neighborhoods who are not represented by HOAs that are doing the legwork on this.
And that's why I feel the shorter period.
Is better for what we're trying to do here because the longer period people will forget.
You only get one mailing of that postcard, which can get lost.
And you have that one or two meetings in HOA or whatever have you or non-HOA, your m uh volunteer is gonna go door to door and talk to their neighbor.
So but again, by having the longer period, people are gonna forget, people will be on vacation, holiday travel, et cetera, et cetera.
So that's why I uh proposed to to reduce the time frame for those particular reasons.
