We seem to have like comparable lifestyles.

But when I'm looking on social media, I see another woman my age and it looks like she's traveling around the world every summer.

And when she travels around the world,

She's not staying at, you know, Airbnbs that don't have all of the walls.

She's staying at five-star hotels.

And wow, if I'm successful, if I'm like her, then I should be staying at five-star hotels.

And then what happens is I book a trip like that, or I do something like that.

And I realize, wait, staying in a five-star hotel is $1,500 a night.

Traveling in summer is really expensive.

All of these different things that I'm able to then sort of adjust that aren't visible on social media.

And it's tricky because we're really encouraged to do that.

We're encouraged to look at these different people who are successful or these people we admire and see the items that they consume or the lives they lead as markers of their identity without actually asking, do I want to spend money like this?

What are my values?

What are my goals?

How is this serving me and what I want to accomplish?

Instead, there's this pressure to emulate and to achieve what they achieve.

The cadence is up to the person, but regularity is key.

So maybe you're somebody who wants to look at your credit card statement every week, or maybe you're someone who wants to look at your budget every month, or you set it every quarter.

Whatever it is in your mind that keeps that awareness top of mind so that you don't feel like you're operating not really knowing how much you're supposed to be saving for this or allocating to X.

Automating really helps with that.
