I have to admit

Today's episode is pretty niche.

It relates directly to my favourite very obscure interest.

Abandoned buildings.

So when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time looking out various windows for abandoned buildings, and when I'd see one, I'd immediately make a mental note of where it was so that I could go and explore it later.

Abandoned buildings, forgotten places, just overlooked spaces in general have always had this strange allure for me.

And I think part of it is the, you know, the Indiana Jones, the Goonies appeal.

But part of it is maybe something deeper.

Maybe it's something about, I don't know, mortality.

I spent a lot of time as a kid thinking about mortality.

I don't know why I was I was just one of those kids.

And I think I think these buildings were, you know, they were briefly someone's pride and joy.

At one time they were designed by an architect, someone owned them, very proudly.

walked in on the first day and thought, Wow, what a beautiful building.

And then somehow the building, whatever it was, became less useful, less used, and eventually derelict, and then someday demolished.

And not to get too nihilistic, but maybe that says something about our lives.

Now I'm saying all this like I'm the only person in the whole world interested in abandoned spaces, but I know I'm not.
