Okay, so he's abducted your four-year-old daughter and you don't even know.
Hey, I'm Julian Morgans and you're listening to What It Was Like, the show that asks people who have lived through big, dramatic events what it was like.
Hey everyone, welcome back.
This week we're looking at a worst case scenario, or at least I think it's a worst case scenario.
I have a daughter, she's five, so this one hit me pretty hard.
Today I'm going to speak with a mother who was at home in her own kitchen in what should have been the safest place in her whole world when an intruder walked in, beat her unconscious, and then kidnapped her four-year-old daughter.
And then what followed was a very tense couple of days as they tried to get her back.
Now, good news.
This one has a happy ending.
You can listen to this one calmly, knowing it's all going to resolve pretty cleanly.
The daughter was retrieved, and now she's 12, and she's doing really well.
But as a human experience, it's troubling and darkly fascinating in pretty equal quantities.
I just kept thinking, what would I do in this situation?
If I was the dad and my wife was beaten unconscious and my kid was gone, what would I do?
How would I retain my sanity?
I don't even know.
