So putting anything into superannuation means that I've just lost my money.

I think whenever you're considering putting money into super, you need to really be taking that viewpoint that this is money that I don't need.

So you asked, would I have recommended a thousand, a thousand, a thousand?

Interesting, because I probably wouldn't have.

How soon until you want to buy the house?

Because that would have been my first determining factor.

So if you had told me, okay, no, Julie, I've got two years, I actually would have been telling you to put probably $1,250 a month into super.

The reason that I'm saying that is because of the first home super saver scheme.

Okay.

That allows you to put $15,000 in and actually be able to withdraw it to purchase your first home.

Okay.

So if we had time, that probably would have been the encouragement.

There are obviously rules around it.

It does need to be your first home and it does need to be a principal place of residence.

So if you're planning to buy an investment property and do like a rent vest scenario, definitely not the right idea because you're not going to be able to get the money back out.
