So that's a 17% difference if we put it inside super.
But to me, that's not really the main benefit of it.
Definitely a behavioral kind of separation where if we put money into super, it takes away that mental decision every single day of,
Should I invest this?
Should I save this?
Is me going out and taking this holiday or me buying the new clothes impacting my retirement?
Superannuation just gives you a safe place for your money to be growing behind the scenes so that you know that you're going to be in a position to support your retirement.
You've probably heard me say it.
You've heard all the advisors say it, Jess.
It all depends on what your goals are.
You need to know what it is that you're trying to achieve with the money that you've got.
So if you are trying to upgrade your home, if you are trying to have a baby or you're planning to take time off work, then yeah, putting money into super where you can't touch it for a while is definitely not the right decision.
I think the other thing as well is just really being on top of your finances.
Like if you're struggling right now with the cost of living and it's a day-to-day struggle to pay your mortgage or go to the groceries, like definitely liquidity is the most important thing.
But if you're in your position right now where you've got a really strong kind of surplus available, you've committed to investing,
Why not put a portion of it away into an environment that's going to be more tax effective and ultimately make your money grow better for you?
Yeah, so your biggest hesitation around putting it in is that you feel that you might need the money and that scares you?
Very normal hesitation that people have.
I think people are taught that superannuation is 40 years away.
