But I read all those

Books about child development that said babies develop at different rates.

So I really wasn't worried.

until when he was just over a year our pediatrician said, Okay, now it's time you have to go see a neurologist and the neurologist told me that Esher was quote unquote very developmentally delayed.

By that time I had noticed that it was pretty pretty obvious that all the other kids his age were walking around and you know, they would toddle around and fall on top of him sometimes and he would shrink away.

He could you know this tiny little sit scoop but he really couldn't move very much.

And I remember

I was being offended when one of the other mothers in the group suggested that I was being a little overprotective of him, as if it were my fault that he wasn't able to move.

I think underneath that I was just worried that she might be right.

You know, and I think that's a common experience for people with you know, s kids who are different.

And for Asher it wasn't just his physical development, he o his sensory system was also different too.

So he couldn't tolerate being touched on his legs and his feet, which really didn't bode well for him being able to walk 'cause he couldn't touch his feet to the ground.

So we end you know, he went to p physical therapy and the therapist gave me a brushing routine that I was supposed to do every two hours.

Which of course was impossible, so that added to my guilt, right?

I couldn't keep that up.

But you know, we did that as much as we could.

And then I had a second child, Rashi, another boy, who he looked different to me from the start.

But at at that point Asher was still my firstborn was still in physical therapy, so I got them back to back appointments.

But my second one was different from my first.
